At goa, we’re big believers in using our platforms — and our people power — for good. And sometimes that good comes in the form of a very
questionable car, a very long drive, and a very important cause. Next May, our Sales Director, Josh, will be taking part in the Shitbox
Rally — a 7-day, cross-country adventure from Port Douglas to Melbourne in a car worth less than $1,500, all to raise money for the Cancer
Council. It’s not a race. It’s an endurance challenge, a rolling community, and a whole lot of dusty fun, all designed to support a cause
that touches almost every family in Australia.
Josh and his rally partner have secured their noble steed: a bright yellow 2002 VW Beetle, purchased on Facebook Marketplace for $750.
Is it perfect? Absolutely not.
Is it reliable? We’ll find out.
Is it going to turn heads? Without question.
It’s currently equal parts “project” and “pray for us,” and you can follow the upgrades (or downgrades) on Instagram at @beetlebugrally.
For Josh, this isn’t just an adventure, it’s personal. His mum is a breast cancer survivor, and watching her navigate treatment with strength and resilience is a big part of why he’s taking on the Rally.
“I know so many people have their own stories — family, friends, colleagues. Cancer doesn’t skip anyone,”Josh says. “If this slightly ridiculous challenge helps even a little, then it’s worth every kilometre.”
The team’s goal is to raise $10,000 for the Cancer Council, with 100% of funds going toward cancer research and supporting patients and families across Australia.
We’re proud to share that goa has come on board as the team’s first sponsor, kicking things off with a big push of support. It’s a cause we believe in, and we’re thrilled to stand behind Josh as he gears up for this massive trek.
If you’d like to get involved — even in a small way — here’s how:
Every bit of support counts whether it’s a few dollars, a follow, or a friendly “good luck keeping that Beetle running.”
