Arts + Minds: goa, Anglicare and Khemistry win OMA Grand Prix Award

Posted 28 Feb '18

goa, in partnership with Anglicare Southern Queensland and Khemistry, is proud to announce that their Arts + Minds campaign has claimed the Grand Prix – Best Campaign award at the Outdoor Media Association’s (OMA) Creative Collections.

This accolade recognises the campaign as the standout among more than 110 submissions across Australia, making it an extraordinary honour for every partner involved.

A Campaign Born from Purpose

The Arts + Minds initiative was conceived through goa’s Community Partnerships Program, inviting campaigns that combine social impact with creative excellence. Khemistry pitched the concept to goa for a share of $1 million in donated media exposure across the goa digital billboard network.

The campaign spotlighted six Queensland artists whose lives had been touched by mental health challenges. Working against the clock, each artist created a piece in just eight hours. Their creative process was broadcast live on goa’s digital grid and THE ICONIC SERIES, as well as via Facebook Live, culminating in a public art auction and gala event.

Beyond drawing awareness, the campaign raised funds for Anglicare’s mental health and wellbeing programs and sparked genuine community engagement.

Why the Judges Chose Arts + Minds

OMA’s CEO, Charmaine Moldrich, highlighted that jurors were immediately drawn to the campaign’s clarity of idea and execution:

“That heady combination of a simple idea, executed to perfection using everything Out of Home has to offer and amplified by digital. It drew awareness and raised funds to support people living with mental health issues.”

Alison Tilling, from BMF and a juror on both quarterly and Grand Prix panels, added:

“The ‘Arts + Minds’ campaign is an absolute ‘should’. It was executed to a very high standard, used technology in ways that added both meaning and excitement to the idea, and was carefully considered from start to finish.”

From Khemistry’s side, Managing Director Andy Fyffe said:

“Recognition with national awards such as the OMA Grand Prix proves that an idea executed with a whole load of passion can produce results that really move people.”

A Standout Moment for All Partners

  • goa is honoured to have enabled this campaign through its Community Partnerships Program and to contribute media reach, amplifying community causes that matter.
  • Anglicare Southern Queensland’s mission found a bold new expression through art and public engagement.
  • Khemistry delivered a creative concept that turned media space into a canvas for empathy, conversation and action.

The Arts + Minds Grand Prix win reaffirms what we believe: when media, art and social purpose come together, you get work that resonates deeply, drives awareness, and makes a lasting difference.
