Tyquin brothers honoured with FEPE International Lifetime Achievement Award

Posted 9 Jun '17

We’re proud to share that Michael “Mike” Tyquin, co-founder of goa Billboards, and his brother Brian Tyquin, founder of Outdoor Systems, have been recognised with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 58th FEPE International Conference in Stockholm, Sweden.

The award is presented annually by FEPE — the worldwide association of outdoor advertising companies — to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the Out-of-Home industry.

Mike and Brian are the first Australians to receive this honour, marking a significant milestone for the local industry.

Mike, who started in the street poster business in 1959 before co-founding goa in 1983, reflected on the recognition:

“I am very honoured and humbled to receive this award.”

His journey has spanned more than 50 years of industry evolution — from hand-posted street ads to the launch of Australia’s first digital billboard network in 2009.

Today, goa remains proudly family-owned, with Mike’s three sons leading the business and continuing the legacy of innovation and commitment that began in a humble Bowen Hills shed more than four decades ago.

This international recognition is not only a tribute to Mike and Brian, but also to the resilience and creativity of Australia’s Out-of-Home industry.
